As Mel Gibson is replaced by Liam Neeson in the upcoming The Hangover 2, isn’t there one little thing that people seem to be missing?
Just a little thing here. You probably caught last week the story that Mel Gibson had been lined up for a cameo appearance in the upcoming The Hangover 2. The film, which is reuniting the original cast with director Todd Phillips, is just heading before the cameras, and Gibson's involvement was being seen as one step towards some kind of career rehabilitation. Or something like that.
However, the decision was swiftly reversed, when reports came in that members of the cast and crew of the film were objecting to Gibson being cast in the film. The current tittle-tattle doing the rounds suggest that Zach Galifianakis was one of those voicing dissent, but even if it was, it seems he wasn't alone.
And you can see why the cast and crew would object. Gibson's past year in particular has been well documented, and not for nothing do many consider that his career is dead.
What gets me here, though, is this: Mike Tyson is a convicted rapist.
I've no problem with people calling bullshit on Gibson's involvement in The Hangover 2. But shouldn't someone have been activating their moral compass around the time of the first film, too? Back when Mike Tyson was brought in for The Hangover 1?
Just a thought.
Incidentally, Liam Neeson has now been confirmed as taking what was to be Gibson's place in The Hangover 2, which is heading to cinemas next year.
