Fox builds on its relationship with JJ Abrams (following Fringe) by picking up a new pilot from him, Alcatraz…
Unsurprising, given that this is a JJ Abrams project, there's very little known about his planned TV show, Alcatraz. Granted we know where it's going to be set, and we know what prison it's going to be about. Yet, the promo line that accompanies news of it right now - "A show about mysteries, secrets and the most infamous prison of all time: Alcatraz" - appears to be all we're getting for the time being.
That said, it's just a waiting game for us, by the looks of it, given that Fox has picked up the project, with the aim of making a pilot.
Abrams is putting the show together, reports The Hollywood Reporter, using some Lost alumni amongst its team. The executive producer team features Abrams, Elizabeth Sarnoff (who will serve as lead writer), Bryan Burk, Steven Lilien and Bryan Wynbrandt (the latter two also taking on writing roles too).
No dates have been mentioned thus far, although The Hollywood Reporter does also reveal that Abrams is working with Christopher Nolan on a "crime thriller". We'd love to know more about that, too.
We'll bring you more news on Alcatraz as we get it...
