With Kickstarter being used to resurrect a gamut of retro classics, it’s only fitting that the old school point and click adventure series, Broken Sword, has been given another roll of the dice, and the new instalment of the game, the fifth in the series, has been launched on Kickstarter by creator, Charles Cecil.
In development by Cecil and Revolution Software, the game returns series’ protagonists George Stobbart and Nico Collard to our screens in a brand new 2D adventure, complete with full voice acting, featuring Rolf Saxon, the original voice of the game’s main hero, Stobbart.
The original series won four BAFTAs boasted some great writing, acting and head-scratching puzzles. Whilst it doesn’t have the clout of the likes of Tim Shafer’s Grim Fandango or the Monkey Island series, it’s nonetheless built up a strong fan base, and its return to our screens can only be a good thing.
As always, donating to the project will net you a copy of the game (for the fee of $15) and larger donations will yield a host of goodies and bonuses. Visit the below link to donate to the project, if you’re a fan of the series, and to check out the promo video and peruse the full list of donation benefits.
