Sony has officially unveiled PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale, and it’s going to be a Brawl…
The Internet rumour mill often gets it dead on the money, and once again the nail is hit squarely on the head. The much rumoured Smash Bros-style title incorporating host of Sony's finest characters has been officially announced, and it's called PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale.
The game, which is being developed by a hand-picked team, is unashamedly a complete clone of Nintendo's hugely popular fighter, and it's clear to see that Sony has taken plenty of inspiration from the Smash Bros. series.
Featuring a host of PlayStation icons, including Kratos, Sweet Tooth, PaRappa the Rapper, and Fat Princess, as well as mash ups of PlayStation game worlds, the game is looking pretty good, with some themed levels and visual polish.
The full roster of characters is yet to be revealed, and/or created, but Sony has no shortage of possible inclusions. Other confirmed characters include Sly Cooper, and Colonel Radec from Killzone, and you'd be a fool to bet against such participants as Solid Snake, Jak and Daxter, Cole MacGrath and Nathan Drake appearing, along with the obvious inclusion of Sackboy, with more waiting in the wings.
The Smash Bros. series is certainly a classic, and Nintendo's roster is arguably stronger and more iconic than Sony's, but All-Stars could be a heavyweight challenger to Nintendo's crown. Watch this space.
