He's not giving too much away, but JJ Abrams has been discussing his soon-to-shoot Star Trek sequel...
We’re weeks away from the start of production now on JJ Abrams’ sequel to his Star Trek reboot, and the director had one or two things to say about it on the red carpet at the recent US premiere of Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol.
Chatting to MTV News, Abrams confirmed that the movie was being released in 3D. However, it’s going to be a post-conversion process that’s deployed.
"We're shooting on film, 2-D, and then we'll do a good high-end conversion like the Harry Potter movie and all that. Luckily, with our release date now we have the months needed to do it right because if you rush it, it never looks good.”
Can't say I was that impressed with the Harry Potter 3D retrofit, but I do appreciate that I'm not necessarily in the majority there.
Abrams also revealed that “We were talking about [shooting in IMAX] and I would love to do it. IMAX is my favorite format. I'm a huge fan”.
In areas of story, Abrams continues to play his cards close to his chest, but we should get the identity of the actor playing the villain in the movie in the weeks ahead…
