Doctor Who

A few stories from the world of Doctor Who have popped up over the past day or two. So we’ve rounded them up right here…

A few Doctor Who bits and bobs have popped up over the past few days, so we’ll just crack on and tell you about them.

The Mirror, today, has run a story with quotes from Steven Moffat where he’s been dropping hints about quitting the show. Of course, it’s easy to make way too much of this, because basically, it appears to be him admitting that he’s a human being. “I never find any time to relax”, he said. “All the stuff that surrounds it can be relentless”.

He added that “I haven’t got a plan but I am definitely going to be handing it to someone else”.

We’ll wait and see when that is, hopefully not soon. Is Toby Whithouse next in line, we wonder? Just a thought.

Elsewhere, in another interview with The Scotsman, Moffat has been talking about plans for the 50th anniversary, and he’s dropped hints that we may be getting several specials. Again, it’s easy to read too much into his words, but he said this, when asking about a 50th birthday special in 2013:

“Why talk in the singular? The plans are at an early stage, but we have some very clear ideas about some of the things we’re doing, and I think Doctor Who fans and kids will think it’s the best thing ever. We’ve got a load of very big plans – the mere fact that we’re talking about this two years before the event should tell you how seriously we’re taking it.”

Steven Moffat also appeared on BBC Breakfast, to promote both Doctor Who and Sherlock, and reiterated that any movie will be in line with the current television series, and not a reboot.

Finally, you can take part in an open preview for the upcoming BBC Worldwide videogame, Doctor Who: Worlds In Time. More details here.
