Guy Pearce stars in the forthcoming, action-packed sci-fi flick Lockout. Check out the new trailer here…
Its plot may sound familiar – Guy Pearce stars as a wrongly convicted man who can earn back his freedom if he rescues the president’s kidnapped daughter – but Lockout looks like the kind of space-based sci-fi epic we seldom see these days, as the genre finds itself increasingly confined to dystopian future cities.
Co-written and produced by Luc Besson, Lockout contains a refreshing number of big ships floating about in Earth’s orbit, blazing laser canons, and laconic heroes smoking cigarettes in confined spaces. It’s like being back in the 80s all over again.
Lockout’s the debut feature from James Mather and Stephen St Leger, who co-wrote with Besson, while Tom Hollander, Peter Stormare and Taken’s Maggie Grace round out the sterling cast. It’s due out on the 13th April in the UK, and although we’ve heard little about Lockout up to now, the laser cannons alone mean it’s on our must-watch list.
