Marvel will be adding some new faces to The Avengers 2, and films such as Iron Man 3 will build towards it. More details here...

It’s little secret that, once Marvel releases its film of The Avengers next summer, that it has further such outings planned. Currently, plans are afoot for three Avengers movies, we understand, and at New York Comic-Con, Marvel’s film chief, Kevin Feige, as been teasing possibilities for The Avengers 2.

He’s revealed firstly that Iron Man 3 is set to lead into “what we refer to as Phase Two of this Avengers Assemble talk, which will lead to an Avengers 2. These movies [Iron Man 3, plus others planned by Marvel] will be a part of that”.

Furthermore, IGN has also nattered to Feige, where he revealed that there will be a new line-up for The Avengers 2, with different characters joining the team. This ties into rumours that Marvel is looking to push ahead with projects such as Ant-Man and Guardians Of The Galaxy, on top of its assorted sequels (Iron Man 3, Thor 2, Captain America 2).

Feige said that “That’s the fun of it - introducing new characters. Seeing how will things change after Iron Man goes through his next adventure? After Thor goes through his next adventure? If we do another Cap adventure, how will things change? The dynamic between them? Their own worlds? So that the dynamic in Avengers 2 is actually quite different than it is in the first one.”

The first Avengers movie arrives next April in the UK, and in May in the US. It'll apparently include a post-credits tease for Iron Man 3. The Avengers sequel? Expect it in 2015, would be our guess. Especially if Marvel has to slot some films in first to build up to it.
