Hugh Jackman talks about the upcoming Wolverine 2, as it’s revealed that Darren Aronofsky is definitely in the director’s chair…
It's taken some time for director Darren Aronofsky to finally be attached to a major blockbuster movie, but it seems the deal to give him the director's chair on the upcoming Wolverine 2 is done and dusted.
Talking to Vulture, Hugh Jackman confirmed that Aronofsky is in charge of the movie (taking over from Gavin Hood, who directed the first Wolverine spin-off), and also that he's got high expectations for the new project. After revealing that his training regime was just about under way, Jackman said of the project, "This is, hopefully for me, going to be out of the box. It's going to be the best one, I hope." He went on to add, "Well, I would say that, but I really do feel that, and I feel this is going to be very different."
He also addressed one or two suggestions that, with Aronofsky in charge, it's going to be a very different project.
"This is Wolverine. This is not Popeye. He's kind of dark. But, you know, this is a change of pace. Chris McQuarrie, who wrote The Usual Suspects, has written the script, so that'll give you a good clue."
McQuarrie also did uncredited script work on at least the first X-Men movie, incidentally.
