There’s not a massive amount of story to disclose, but the synopsis for the upcoming Transformers 3 is nonetheless out of the bag…
The plot of the next Transformers movie, The Dark Of The Moon, has been revealed by quite an unusual source. Whereas you might expect a formal announcement, or a controlled announcement, the fine folks at Slashfilm noticed that the cat was out of the bag with a product description on the Amazon website.
The product in question was an official Transformers 3 Push-Pops Board Book, and accompanying its listing on Amazon was the following synopsis:
"The Autobots Bumblebee, Ratchet, Ironhide and Sideswipe led by Optimus Prime, are back in action, taking on the evil Decepticons, who are determined to avenge their defeat in 2009's Transformers Revenge of the Fallen. In this new movie, the Autobots and Decepticons become involved in a perilous space race between the U.S. and Russia, and once again human Sam Witwicky has to come to the aid of his robot friends. There's new characters too, including a new villain in the form of Shockwave, a longtime "Transformers" character who rules Cybertron while the Autobots and Decepticons battle it out on Earth."
It does confirm much of what was already known about the film. And it also points heavily towards the fact that Michael Bay is basically going to put together an effects-driven film about giant robots smashing shit out of each other. That's our calculated guess, anyway.

Transformers: The Dark Of The Moon will be released on July 1st 2011.
