Unseen footage of Eric Stoltz as Marty McFly in Back To The Future appears online…
Personally, I've always felt a bit sorry for Eric Stoltz. Sometimes, acting jobs just don't work out, and the story of him being replaced five weeks into the shoot of Back To The Future is a legendary one. It was Stoltz's misfortune that the film went on to become the phenomenon that it was, because with it came one of the most well-told changes of casting stories in modern day movie history.
It's still an interesting tale, granted, and there's still a bit of me that's interested to see just how far off the mark Stoltz was in relation to the final movie.
In advance of the new Blu-ray release of the trilogy, there's new footage been released that doesn't particularly answer the question, but it's fascinating to watch nonetheless.
History does show, of course, that director Robert Zemeckis and executive producer Steven Spielberg made the right call. And here, in this new clip, they talk about the decision they made, and show some footage of Stoltz as Marty McFly. See what you think...
