Bradley Cooper : The Flash

Could the next DC project to go before the cameras be The Flash, and is Bradley Cooper finally going to headline a comic book movie?

Now that Warner Bros has got its two biggest DC properties lined up for new movies, with both Superman and Batman down for fresh outings in 2012, its attention has turned to other characters in its universe to make the jump to the big screen. The Green Lantern is, of course, following in 2011, and the sequel to that is widely expected to get moving not long after.

But it's looking increasingly likely that The Flash is next off the production line.

A fresh draft of The Flash script is set to head to Warner Bros this side of Christmas, which would pave the way for it potentially to go before the cameras next year. That would put it on course for a 2012 release date potentially, making it a DC triple bill that year.

The story for the film has been put together by Greg Berlanti, who had been rumoured to direct, although that's apparently unlikely. And the latest draft is being polished up by Marc Guggenheim and Michael Green, with work nearly complete.

And Moviehole is reporting that if the script measures up, then it could well be a project being lined up for The Hangover star Bradley Cooper. Cooper was down to the final two for The Green Lantern movie, before Ryan Reynolds snagged the lead role. Could The Flash turn out to be his consolation prize?

Of course, official word is not forthcoming. But rest assured that are ears are trained to the ground...
