The star of the upcoming Evil Dead remake has been chatting about the content of the film

With the teaser trailer for Fede Alvarez's Evil Dead remake being released officially later today, we can finally get a proper first look at the movie. Although we did get an  image of Jane Levy, in full makeup peeking out from a cellar, released last week of course.

Levy recently spoke to Collider who asked her about the film, here's what she had to say:

“(Fans) can expect a lot of horror. It's a pretty violent film. There's lots and lots of blood. It's a beautiful movie – visually, actually, it looks so fucking cool", she said. "I saw a little bit of the end of the movie when I was in New Zealand and was like, 'whoa!' because Fede didn't let me watch playback – he's a big bully. It's a really cool looking movie. Really, really, really, cool.”

Levy then went on to acknowledge that the film is a hard R, borderline NC-17 movie, which will be music to many people's ears...

“That's us. Totally. I hate censorship, man. I really do. The thing is, we don't have any sex, which I love. It's not gory porn, which is often what makes a movie NC-17, which it doesn't need to be. But I always like when it's either a 'sex movie' or it's a 'violent movie'. I'm not a fan of the two. So if we're edging toward an NC-17, it's because of all the violence, and the gore, and the blood – not because of anything else.”

It certainly sounds promising, the only slight concern is that the focus seems to be very much on the gore aspect of the film. The greatest strength of the original trilogy was how well the humour was worked in alongside the visual madness and the gore. We'll wait and see if that's in there, too...
