Sega’s continued pilfering of its back catalogue doesn’t show any signs of stopping, and the latest announcement will be one for AM2 fans.
The Sega Model2 Collection has been officially announced by Sega and includes some classic Sega 3D titles from yesteryear, including the superb Virtua Fighter 2, Fighting Vipers and Virtual On, and the slightly less superb Virtua Striker and Sonic the Fighters.
It would appear as though the title of Model2 Collection is a little misleading however, as the games are going to be released individually for around 800 MS Points (around £7.00 for PS3 owners).
The titles themselves will be ports of the arcade versions, rather than home console releases, and they will, of course, feature the usual modern day additions of achievements/trophies and online functionality.
According to current plans, Virtua Fighter 2, Fighting Vipers and Sonic the Fighters will be available this year, whilst Virtua Striker and Virtual On will arrive sometime next year.
At the moment, the collection is only slated for a Japanese release, but with the recent spate of Sega re-releases making the rounds, it’s highly likely that the collection will see the light of day in America and Europe. Watch this space, and the below trailer.
