With his work on The Green Lantern in the can, Ryan Reynolds has been talking about his thoughts on the upcoming X-Men spin-off, Deadpool…
If there was any doubt that Ryan Reynolds was still set to star in the upcoming X-Men spin-off movie, Deadpool, then nobody seems to have told the actor himself. Reynolds' involvement had been called into question given Warner Bros' desire to fast track sequels to its Green Lantern movie, which Reynolds has now completed production on.
However, in the Los Angeles Times, Reynolds has been eagerly talking about the direction of the Deadpool project. He told it that "It goes in such a different direction than a superhero movie usually goes ... It's a nasty piece of work. It's just based in so much emotional filth, completely."
He went on to reveal that "With Deadpool, it's a lot like going to prison for the first day. You got to walk up and hit the biggest guy you see to establish a bit of cred. With Deadpool, early on you have to establish that moral flexibility.
"There's a gamble to it. You're going to lose a few people right at the beginning, but you take the gamble and know that eventually you're going to win them back. You won't lose the hardcore fans of the character, they already know who he is. We have to play to a broader audience than that."
It's quite an interesting interview, and The Times also suggests that 2012 is planned as the release date for the film. Furthermore, it also cements the news that Robert Rodriguez has been chatting about directing the film, yet no deal as of yet appears to have been done.
