Nathan Drake isn't any closer to a movie, as Uncharted loses yet another director...

The story of the planned Uncharted movie is getting to be quite a troubled one. Once upon a time, David O Russell was developing the project, with an eye on directing it. He was going to cast Mark Wahlberg, potentially, as Nathan Drake, and it seemed as if things were full steam ahead.

Then, David O Russell left the project. No worries, though. In came Neil Burger, hot off the success of Limitless, to direct the movie. Things seemed to be back on track again.

Only now, they’re not. Burger has now also departed the project, for reasons thus far unknown. Sony’s latest move has been, therefore, to bring new writers in for a fresh stab at the script. Those writers are Marianne and Cormac Wibberley, who have previously penned the likes of Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle, The Sixth Day and G-Force.

This, inevitably, leaves the project still some way away from reaching the big screen. When we hear news of a new director, we’ll pass it your way. Hopefully, common sense will eventually prevail, and Nathan Fillion will be cast in the lead role, too. You never know…

Variety.
