Well, it's all falling into place. We know for definite that Joss Whedon is returning to write and direct the sequel to The Avengers. And now we have an exact date as to when to expect it.
Disney has confirmed that the sequel to The Avengers will be released on May 1st 2015. That gives Marvel a few years to get Iron Man 3, Thor: The Dark World, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Guardians Of The Galaxy and probably Ant-Man into cinemas beforehand, and so it's a fair bet that most, if not all, of those films will be leading towards it.
Disney has released an official statement, which notably doesn't call the film The Avengers 2. Instead, it's listed as Untitled Marvel's Avengers Sequel. Other than that, no further details are yet forthcoming, unsurprisingly.
