After Resident Evil: Afterlife stormed the global box office, Milla Jovovich has confirms that a fifth film is happening…
The reviews may not have been particularly kind, but across the planet the latest Resident Evil movie, Afterlife, has pulled in over $70m in its opening weekend. Given that the film's budget was reported to be $60m, it's fair to say that it's going to be making Sony a hefty profit. It's already on its way to becoming the most lucrative film in the franchise to date.
It's perhaps inevitable, therefore, that a fifth Resident Evil movie would be confirmed, and as it turns out, that appears to have already happened. Milla Jovovich has told Vulture over the weekend that "we're definitely going to make another one". She also revealed that Paul W S Anderson, director of two of the four films in the series to date, and also Jovovich's husband, "already has some ideas for the fifth Resident Evil instalment".
Interestingly, she also reveals that "this time he wants the audience's ideas too", adding "it's probably going to be one of the first movies where we really talk to fans to see what they want, and what characters they want to see."
A couple of suggestions do spring to mind, to be fair, but if you want to input into the process of Resident Evil 5, then you probably need to pop along to Jovovich's Twitter feed here.
