The Heroes are set to stay stuck in limbo, as NBC opts against making a wrap-up movie for Tim Kring’s Heroes…
When Heroes finally reached the end of the road earlier this year with the conclusion of the fourth season, the olive branch that was held out for fans of the show was that NBC may revisit the series to do a big, final wrap-up TV movie. This would resolve the outstanding threads left behind by the series' cancellation, and would end the show once and for all.
However, after a few months of deliberation, it's now been confirmed that this will not be happening. NBC has apparently given no formal reason for its decision, short of confirming to Entertainment Weekly that there definitely will not be a Heroes TV movie. And, given the high budget per episode of the show, this isn't one of those instances where a cable network is going to be able to come in and foot the bill to make it happen.
Thus, probably the final act of Heroes will be the arrival of the final season on DVD and Blu-ray in the coming weeks.
NBC has, however, picked up the new series from Heroes creator Tim Kring, which is entitled III. The new show is about aliens invading America, and more news on that will, no doubt filter through in the months ahead.
