With such a strong list of characters under its exclusivity belt, it’s only fitting that Sony is set to release its own variant of Super Smash Bros. The clone of the Nintendo scrapper will feature such characters as Fat Princess, Sly Raccoon, Nathan Drake, Sweet Tooth, Kratos and Parappa the Rapper, with more to be announced. And, the gameplay will be fast, frantic battling on a variety of themed levels culled from the PlayStation’s back catalogue, again, not all that dissimilar from the Mario-sporting fighter.
This mash-up of styles and gaming icons now has a release date, and the game will arrive on the PlayStation 3 on October 23, as confirmed by the PlayStation Blog. And, if you pre-order the game, you’ll also be granted access to a range of extra skins for the characters, some of which have been revealed, with more yet to be announced.
Whether or not PlayStation All-Stars can hold a candle to the hugely popular Smash Bros. remains to be seen, but there’s no doubt that the game will appeal to hardcore Sony fans eager to se their favourite gaming heroes do battle in a mighty crossover. There’s not long to go now, until these dream bouts can be played out.
