Things must be pretty busy for Charlize Theron at the moment, with two films hitting UK cinemas at the same time and having to publicise them both. The films in question are Prometheus and Snow White and the Huntsman, and whilst undertaking promotional duties for them, she's found a bit of time to natter about the upcoming Mad Max: Fury Road. That's the movie in which she’ll star opposite Tom Hardy, who will be replacing Mel Gibson in the title role for what could potentially be another trilogy.
Needless to say it sounds as though Theron is looking forward to getting started: "I'm very excited about it; I'm fucking dying! It's been three years; it’s time to skin this cat already!", she told Empire. "I'm scared shitless, it's a really challenging piece of material. It's not the original Mad Max, it's the revamped Mad Max. The whole thing is just very, very exciting."
One of the reasons for the delay was the original shooting location experiencing heavy rains which turned the barren land into a picturesque area full of flowers, which is obviously not suitable for a Mad Max movie. Here’s what Theron had to say about the situation: "It was a huge problem, the desert never recovered. Well, it did recover in a beautiful way, just not the way we needed!"
This is one that we’ll keep everything crossed for. Here's hoping it captures the magic of the first two Mad Max movies complete with the same level of practical stunt madness. More on the film as we get it.
