Who’s in and who’s out of the soon-to-shoot Iron Man 3?
The start of production isn’t far away now, and thus Iron Man 3 continues to fall into place. We’ve long known that Shane Black is directing, with Robert Downey Jr reprising the title role. In recent days, we’ve also had the names of Guy Pearce, Jessica Chastain and Sir Ben Kingsley linked with joining the film, although none of those have been confirmed yet.
But here’s another one to throw into the mix: Andy Lau.
Lau, who appeared in The House Of The Flying Daggers and Infernal Affairs, amongst others, is being lined up to play a Chinese scientist, who happens to be an old friend of Tony Stark.
Part of the thinking over the casting of Lau may well be to open up the film’s appeal in Asia: it was revealed a week or two back that Disney and Marvel are tapping into Chinese funding to help fund the movie, and that part of Iron Man 3 is set to shoot in China, too.
Elsewhere in casting news, Scarlett Johansson has confirmed that she won’t be reprising her role as Black Widow in Iron Man 3. The character was introduced on the big screen in Iron Man 2, but it’s looking likely that the next time we see her, post-The Avengers, will be in the Avengers sequel.
More news on Iron Man 3 as we get it.
