New trailer for Crysis 3

Almost a guaranteed blockbuster, there's no doubting the pulling power of CryTek's Crysis series, and the third time looks like it's going to be a high velocity charm, as demonstrated in this new trailer.

After the fall of New Your City in Crysis 2, the world's most famous urban sprawl is looking a little worst for wear, now encased in a giant, corporate-created Nanodome, and beset by nature and all manner of alien monstrosities.

This situation may not last long, though, as the nano-suited Prophet has returned to the Big Apple to take it back, and with his arsenal of weapons (including his new, nifty bow) and suit powers, those pesky aliens had better start digging in.

Crysis 3 will, of course, look the part, with the impressive CryEngine running the show, and it's also been confirmed, much to fans' delight, that the third game will bear more of a resemblance to the first game, benefiting form a much more open world. This is something the second game discarded in favour of a more focused FPS experience, which mostly worked, but many felt the loss of the freedom was a mistake.

Crysis 3 isn't due to land on PC, Xbox 360 and PS3 until next year, but there's no reason not to gawp at the gorgeous visuals in the trailer a few times.
