Spec Ops: The Line has a new multiplayer trailer, and here it is…
Spec Ops: The Line looks like a military shooter with a difference, and that's sand, and lots of it. Set in a sandstorm ravaged Dubai, Spec Ops: The Line is set to feature some interesting environmental hazards and game mechanics as you struggle to deal with the various threats of a desert reclaiming a city.
This gritty (ahem) gameplay won't just feature in the single player campaign either, and multilayer will make use of the game's persistent threat. Matches will be hit with severe sandstorms, hampering visibility and movement, sand avalanches can make for deadly surprises, and there's going to be various opportunities to use the environment against your foes.
Game modes will include deathmatch and team deathmatch, as well as the unique ‘buried' mode, which utilises the aforementioned sand trap mentality as you have to try and swamp your foes under the sand before taking out their high value target.
The multiplayer sees former teammates turn on each other, and the team sent to investigate the situation in Dubai splits into two, the Damned and the Exiles. One still follows their commander, and the others have rebelled, turning on their superior. This essentially makes for a great excuse to swap lead in the sunny climes of Dubai amidst the sand dunes, and why the hell not?
Spec Ops: The Line is due out on June 26 on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC.
