Bethesda has put Human Head, developer of Prey 2, in the naughty corner…
Gamers looking forward to the release of the ambitious and promising Prey 2 can breathe a sigh of relief, as, contrary to earlier rumours, the title hasn't been cancelled, the developer is just taking its sweet old time about it. This is something that Bethesda is none too happy about.
In a statement on Bethesda's blog, the publisher has confirmed that Prey 2 is still in development, and very much alive, but that developer, Human Head, hasn't been performing as it'd like, and that the quality of the game at this time isn't up to muster, and a 2012 release is no longer on the cards.
"Development of Prey 2 has not been cancelled but the game will not be released in 2012 as planned. The delay is due to the fact that game development has not progressed satisfactorily this past year, and the game does not currently meet our quality standards. Prey 2 has shown great promise and we regret disappointing our fans. We have made a substantial investment in game development to deliver the experience fans want. We are determined only to release the AAA game that fans rightfully expect, and are unwilling to compromise our quality standards to meet a release schedule." Said the statement posted earlier today.
