The Partner, the first John Grisham adaptation for nearly a decade, moves closer to production.
John Grisham adaptations were all the rage for a while, with many of the writer's works being adapted between 1993 and 2004 (Christmas With The Kranks being the last). But for the best part of a decade it has been all quiet on the Grisham adaptation front. That looks to change now however as Mark Wahlberg is attached to star in and produce The Partner, a Grisham novel from 1997 that somehow missed the adaptation craze.
It follows a disgruntled lawyer who decides to embezzle a considerable sum of money from his employer, before faking his own death, as you do. Despite working out for a while, his actions soon catch up with him with some added complications .
Wahlberg will tackle the project alongside longtime collaborator Stephen Levinson who he has worked on Entourage with as well as Contraband. They will be searching for a director after John Lee Hancock (The Blind Side) bowed out.
More on The Partner when we get it.
