Another DC property moves closer to going into production, as Wrath of the Titans screenwriter Dan Mazeau discusses The Flash
Whilst DC obviously have two very lucrative cinematic properties in Batman and Superman, they haven't made as effective use of their properties as Marvel, who have seemingly been ever present on cinema screens for the past few years.
Last year's Green Lantern performed well under the studio's expectations, and a sequel to that, it has to be said, looks rather unlikely at this point. Films such as Catwoman and Jonah Hex were notable flops also. Thus, the company, along with parent Time Warner, are no doubt looking to what can prove to be a decent money spinner.
One such property is The Flash, and whilst publicising Wrath of the Titans screenwriter Dan Mazeau had the following to say about it:
“I think Warner Bros. is finalising their strategy of how they want to roll out their DC superheroes, and obviously they’ve got Batman in an incredibly great place, and Green Lantern, I think, performed okay. I think they probably would have liked it to have done better, but yeah, there is still a whole lot of excitement for the DC universe, and I know The Flash is very high on the list.
It’s like anything, though, it has to come together with the right cast. It has to come together with the right director and sort of the right moment, and so they’re trying to push the rock up the hill … hopefully there will be some news soon, but right now I can’t really say anything else.“
Mazeau also added that his Flash of choice for the script is Barry Allen but "For fans of Wally [West], there were some things in that script that would make them happy also."
So it would appear to be on the cards in some way or the other, but it sounds a way off yet.
