The Yakuza series is back, and this time there’s zombies…
Sega's long-running Yakuza series could easily be described as samey. Although good, each instalment hasn't exactly pushed the boat out, with each one being much more of the same with a little window dressing tacked on. That is, until now.
Yakuza: Dead Souls is about as far removed from the traditional Yakuza games as you can get, and it's all gone a bit Left 4 Dead on us. Starring several characters from the main series, not to mention some familiar locations and side activities, Dead Souls is going to be an all-out action shooter that sees you tackle all sorts of undead.
We were certainly surprised when the title was announced a while back, and this trailer, with some clunky-looking animation and combat hasn't set out minds at ease about the game's quality. But, we'll soon see if the marriage of Japanese gangsters and shambling zombies can prove fruitful, as Yakuza: Dead Souls arrives on March 13. For now, have a look at the pre-order trailer.
