Ryan Reynolds roles: Deadpool vs Green Lantern

Ryan Reynolds has given an update of sorts on both a Green Lantern sequel, and X-Men spin-off, Deadpool...

Currently on promotional duties for Safe House, Ryan Reynolds has inevitably been asked about the long rumoured Deadpool movie.

Check out the link below to see the video but Reynolds basically says that the script is in place and it’s great, it has nothing to do with X-Men Origins: Wolverine, and the film will definitely be R-rated. We'd suggest that makes it just a little trickier to get off the ground, too.

Reynolds was one of the few highpoints in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, and was by some distance the most interesting antagonist in the film. Thus, his own spin-off sounds like a fine idea. Still, the likelihood of a Deadpool movie happening, as exciting as it may be, seems unlikely.

Sure it’s been heavily rumoured for a while, and a script is in place, but it’s a film that has been in development of some kind for almost a decade now, with various high profile directors being attached and dropping out along the way. Currently, David Slade is on board, and if he can get a green light for a sizeable budget R-rated comic book movie, then we tip our hat to him.

IGN also asked Reynolds about a sequel to Green Lantern, which he answered by saying “no idea”, before explaining things such as budgets to the interviewer. Which seems a polite way of saying that the film made a little over its budget back and wasn’t that well received, so don’t hold your breath on that one, either.
