National Lampoon's Vacation

The Griswolds are heading back to the big screen, courtesy of the team behind last summer’s Horrible Bosses…

It was revealed a while back that one of the titles on the remake burner was Vacation (or National Lampoon’s Vacation). The idea behind the project was that it’d pick up with the son of Chevy Chase’s character, Rusty, would take the Griswold adventure forward, and at one point, Wedding Crashers helmer David Dobkin was in line to direct.

He’s since left the project, but the new director has been found. Directors, as it happens, as The Hollywood Reporter brings us the news that John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein are in negotiations for the new film. They’re the pair that penned Horrible Bosses, and are also working on the sequel. Furthermore, John Francis Daley still holds a warm place in our hearts for his acting work in the peerless TV show, Freaks And Geeks.

Daley and Goldstein have penned the screenplay for the new Vacation movie, and once they’re officially confirmed as directors, expect the project to move forward fairly quickly.
