Double Fine Adventure

Details about the public-funded Double Fine Advneture have been released, and here they are…

Tim Shafer's appeal to the gaming community, via Kickstarter, to fund a classic point-and-click adventure couldn't have worked out any better. With the total now over $1.8 million and 25 days to go, the future of the fan-funded projects looks bright. And, this hasn't been lost on Mr Shafer, who's posted some fresh details about the title via an update video.

Thanks to the extra funds available, as promised the game is going to be even better than first envisions, and will feature more voice work and full localisation. It'll arrive on PC, Mac, Linux, iOS and Android, and there's going to be a closed beta test for backers of the projects (those who donated $15 or more).

The beta will be delivered to the participating community via Steam, in order to enforce protection and clamp down on dodgy dealings, but, once the final game is ready, Double Fine will release a DRM-free version for those who dislike intrusive copy protection (that'll be most people, then).

More announcements will be made in due course, but for now you can watch the update video for yourself.
