Reports suggesting that Michael Bay’s next Transformers movie will be a reboot might just be wide of the mark…
Earlier in the week, it was revealed that Michael Bay was returning to direct a fourth Transformers film, which is set for release in the summer of 2014. It had been said that the movie was a reboot of sorts, with Shia LaBeouf not returning. But, according to a source close to the film, who was chatting to BadAssDigest, Transformers 4 is actually going to be a direct sequel.
It’s apparently set to follow directly on from Dark Of The Moon, albeit not told from the perspect of LaBeouf’s character this time around. And also, the tone is going to change slightly. The “goofy, tone-deaf comedy bits” are reportedly coming down in number. According to the source, “Michael realised it needs to be more like the last hour”, in reference to Dark Of The Moon.
We can't, we should say, confirm what the source is saying. But if they're right, that seems to point towards a more action-driven movie, which may yet – and this is nothing more than speculation on our part – increase the chances of Jason Statham landing a leading role.
Statham vs Robots? They wouldn’t stand a bloody chance.
When we hear more on Transformers 4, we’ll bring it your way…
