Danny Trejo is set to return as Machete in Machete Kills, which is due before the cameras around Easter…
It was revealed around the time of the original release of Machete that Robert Rodriguez had a trilogy of such films planned. And, two years after Machete first hit (although arguably the film never lived up to the first trailer), the first follow-up is on the way.
It’s going by the name of Machete Kills, and the plan is to start shooting in April. Talks have begun with Danny Trejo about getting him back in the title role, and the plan is to bring back some of the characters who survived the first movie, too.
Kyle Ward has penned the script this time around, and the story will see Machete on the payroll of the US government, tasked with bringing down nasty people in Mexico who want to do damage to the planet.
We’d guess a release date in 2013 is planned, and you can read more on the story at Deadline, here.
