Death Wish

With The Grey in cinemas now, director Joe Carnahan looks ahead to his next project; a remake of the 70’s Charles Bronson movie, Death Wish.

Well, personally this is one remake that I can get behind. Whilst I like the Charles Bronson starring original film of Death Wish (numerous sequels are hit and miss), I think in the right hands a remake could be interesting. And Joe Carnahan, the director of The Grey, The A-Team and Narc, might just be the right candidate.

The Los Angekes Times is reporting that Carnahan has been hired by MGM and Paramount pictures to write and direct a new take on Death Wish, although neither the studios nor Carnahan have provided a comment at this stage.

With The Grey, Carnahan showed a return to the grittiness seen in Narc and if he could combine that with some of the insanity seen in Smokin’ Aces, he could yet weave an impressive new Death Wish movie.  Let the campaign start for Liam Neeson to take the Charles Bronson role right now.

More on the Death Wish remake when we get it.
