The cameras have been rolling for a couple of days now on JJ Abrams’ Star Trek sequel, but Paramount has now sent out the formal press release confirming the news.
The film is shooting in Los Angeles at the moment, and Paramount has confirmed that Benedict Cumberbatch, Alive Eve and Peter Weller are amongst the new members of the cast.
Benedict Cumberbatch, meanwhile, was at the Golden Globes earlier in the week, and MTV caught up with him for a quick chat.
They tried to press him on his exact role in the film, suggesting they knew he was playing the villain. “I don’t think we do know that, I think that is just supposition”, he argued, going on to say that if he did spill the beans, he “wouldn’t have a job in this town”.
Cumberbatch gives the impression of a man very happy to have landed the role, declaring that “it has been great fun to prep”. We eagerly await the exact news of who he’s set to play, though…
