With the release of the big screen adaptation of The Hunger Games drawing closer, the writer and director are already in place for the next film. Catching Fire...
Lionsgate made Simon Beaufoy their top choice to write the script to the The Hunger Games sequel Catching Fire, and it's now been revealed that a deal has been done and he’s set to start work on penning the movie.
Catching Fire is set for a planned 22 November 2013 release, and Gary Ross is also set to return as director. He’ll supervise Beaufoy’s adaptation as he co-wrote the first instalment.
It’s good to see that Lionsgate have opted to keep Gary Ross as director, as it will help to add a sense of continuity in directorial style that was lacking in the likes of Twilight. It also shows that the studio is confident that it has a sizeable hit on its hands given the popularity of the source novels.
