Rockstar finally unveils the release date of the third outing of Max Payne
It's been quite some time since Mr Payne strutted his stuff and bullet-dived across our screens, but it looks like the wait is finally over, as the third adventure of the troubled detective has been officially dated.
Max Payne 3 is set to arrive on Xbox 360 and PS3 on May 15th in North America, with the international release arriving on the 18th May. PC owners can expect to get their hands on the action on May 29th in America and June 1st internationally. That's a slight delay from its planned March premiere, but not a massive one.
Continuing the smooth, gun-toting gameplay we've come to expect from the gritty and cinematic third person shooter series, Max the third sees the ex-New York Detective venture to the seedy streets of São Paulo, Brazil. Working for a private protection outfit, Max is desperately trying to forget his less than cheerful past, but is soon thrust into his usual routine of firefights and high-action antics.
Despite the slew of images and fractions of info about the game, we've still to see if the formula of the series can cut it in today's market. After all, it's been nearly 10 years since we last saw Max in action, and all genres have moved on in leaps and bounds since then.
Rockstar doesn't usually let things slide though, so here's hoping that when we feel the Payne again, it feels good.
