Fox is pressing ahead with a follow-up to X-Men: First Class, and confirms that new Daredevil and Fantastic Four films are still very much in the works...
It’s been a strong year for 20th Century Fox when it comes to blockbusters. Both X-Men: First Class and Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes brought in strong reviews and good box office, and follow-ups to both of them are already in the works.
In the case of X-Men: First Class, studio boss has now told MTV that a follow-up to that is a priority. “We’re trying as hard as we can. We really want to do it. We’re planning to do it”,he said.
Furthermore, it’s clear that lessons have been learned from how Fox has dealt with comic book movies previously (hello Elektra!) and the success of First Class. Because why was First Class successful? “The script was really good. The key to making a great continuing franchise is to have a great script, so we’re working hard on it.”
Rothman confirmed that new Daredevil and Fantastic Four movies were both still in the works, but noted that “I think for all of us, the bar has been raised, so we’ve got to aim high now”.
We’re not going to quibble with that.
