Following the news of his casting last week. it looks as though we now have an idea of the role Peter Weller will play in JJ Abrams' Star Trek sequel...
Last week, it was revealed that RoboCop himself, Mr Peter Weller, was set to be cast in JJ Abrams' Star Trek sequel. However, little was known about the role he would play.
It's a safe bet that Weller won’t be playing Khan, or whoever the main villain of the film turns out to be. However, according to his agent the role he has landed is a substantial one, and that he’ll be playing a CEO. There’s also a description of a role that sounds like it’s the one Weller has landed, and it is for an older villain who supports the main antagonist.
The CEO role would be interesting if they’re going with a corporate angle, given that as RoboCop, Weller stood against corporate corruption. What a difference 20 years makes!
More seriously, it’s great to see an actor of Weller’s talent back with a substantial role in a major movie. Furthermore, his familiarity with the Star Trek universe through his work on Enterprise makes him a good fit.
More on the Star Trek sequel when we get it.
