Assassin's Creed is the next videogame to start the rocky journey to the movies...
It’s been a while now since it was revealed that UbiSoft was to start actively pushing a couple of its key videogame franchises towards the movies. And it was always inevitable that the Assassin’s Creed games would be top of the list of possible films.
So it’s turned out. The first project that UbiSoft Motion Pictures is set to get going is indeed a movie of Assassin’s Creed. Variety reports that UbiSoft is about to close a deal with Sony Pictures to make the film, although we’re some time away from cameras rolling.
After all, Sony is also developing films of inFAMOUS and Uncharted, and the latter in particular has come close to a green light several times, before something goes wrong. Most recently, director David O Russell left the project.
It’s likely that Assassin’s Creed will be fast tracked as best as possible, and we’ll keep you posted on its progress. For now, though: any casting suggestions?
