Liam Neeson returns for Taken 2. And we've got a release date and plot synopsis for it right here...
Liam Neeson is set to be showing off his very particular set of skills again on the big screen next year, as Fox has confirmed the release date for the sequel of Taken.
You can expect Taken 2, an oddly-conventional title by modern standards, to be released in the US on October 5th, 2012. There’s no UK release date announced yet, but we can’t imagine it’d be too far apart. Europe actually got the original Taken far in advance of the American release, but that’s not likely to happen this time.
The film this time around is being directed by Olivier Megaton, the man who helmed The Transporter 3 and the more recent Colombiana. Luc Besson is co-writing again (with Robert Mark Kamen). And Besson confirmed to us earlier this year that this would be the final Taken movie.
A synopsis for the film has been released, and the story appears to be something akin to prodding Liam Neeson with sticks until he’s in a bad mood again. More officially, it reads:
“Liam Neeson returns as Bryan Mills, the retired CIA agent with a particular set of skills who stopped at nothing to save his daughter Kim from Albanian kidnappers. When the father of one of the kidnappers swears revenge, and takes Bryan and his wife hostage during their family vacation in Istanbul, Bryan enlists Kim to help them escape, and uses the same advanced level of special forces tactics to get his family to safety and systematically take out the kidnappers one by one.”
Taking Liam Neeson’s character hostage? Sigh. Did these kidnappers not watch the first film?
