John McClane is heading back into trouble with Die Hard 5. But it looks like he's not bringing his daughter...
Only two characters from the first two Die Hard movies made an appearance in the last one, Die Hard 4.0. John McClane was one, obviously, and his daughter, Lucy, was the other.
When we first saw Lucy back in the first movie, she was the little girl who ended up on the telly thanks to the manipulative ways of Richard Thornburg. In Die Hard 4.0, she was all grown up, meanwhile, and played by Mary Elizabeth Winstead. As with all grown-up children in such movies, she was basically there to be kidnapped.
Die Hard 5, then, is moving ahead, with John Moore now confirmed to direct the movie. But Winstead has been chatting to The Playlist, and it appears that Lucy McClane isn’t likely to be making an appearance in the next Die Hard movie.
“I’m assuming I will not be [in that] because I have not heard anything”, she said. “But it’s cool, all the updates and everything. I’m excited to see what happens with it.”
Winstead is next to be seen in the forthcoming prequel to The Thing, which we’re hearing positive mumblings about. We will, of course, keep you posted.
