Christopher Nolan, Michael Bay and David Yates are amongst the names being linked with a brand new Twilight Zone movie. Details here...
It seems as though Warner Bros are pressing ahead with a new Twilight Zone movie, and have drawn up a shortlist of directors who they want to helm the feature. Some are quite interesting and will no doubt excite cinema goers. Onein particular probably won’t, however.
The shortlist is said to include Christopher Nolan, Alfonso Cuaron and Michael Bay, with David Yates and Rupert Wyatt also rumoured to be in contention.
Nolan, Cuaron and Yates have all worked on projects for Warner Bros previously, but the studio is reportedly keen on working with Bay as they have been impressed with his success at handling blockbuster pictures over the years. Presumably success in this regard is being viewed from a financial, rather than an artistic, point of view.
The fact that a single director is being sought rules out another anthology film like 1983’s rather ace Twilight Zone: The Movie, which featured the talents of Steven Spielberg, Joe Dante, John Landis and George Miller. Another film along those lines, featuring some of the names above, would be an exciting prospect. However, a script by Jason Rothenberg is apparently in place which rules that out.
It'll be interesting to see who ends up getting the job. Personally I’d like to see Cuaron or Yates get the job. But then again I’d much rather see The Twilight Zone return as a weekly TV show rather than a movie.
