Could Derek Zoolander’s return to the big screen have just edged a little bit closer?
Along with Anchorman 2, Zoolander 2 is one of a pair of comedies where it's regularly reported that they're not going to be made, and then every now and then there appears to be a sliver of hope.
Quite a big sliver now, in the case of Zoolander 2.
MTV caught up with screenwriter Justin Theroux (he's working with Ben Stiller on penning the project), and he revealed that "The script is in good shape right now." He wouldn't go into detail, but appreciating that the last time we wrote about this project we figured it might well be dead, this is sizeable progress.
He also added, "I'm feeling very optimistic about it. We're doing a few little tweaks before we submit it, but I'm very hopeful that I'm going to be working on that soon."
Presumably, the next stage is the crucial one, where the screenplay heads to Paramount. Here's hoping that it makes progress there, and also, in turn, clears the way for the aforementioned Anchorman 2. We won't hold our breath, though...
