James Cameron’s Avatar heads to DVD and Blu-ray for a second time, with an extended three-disc Special Edition…
You have to hand it to James Cameron. His blue-rinsed epic Avatar may have cost a fortune to make, but he's more than had his money's worth out of it.
Already appearing on the big screen twice within a 12 month period, the movie is due for a second release on 15 November in the shape of the Avatar Special Edition.
"I told our team - let's do the ultimate box set of Avatar, with everything in it the fans could possibly want," said an understandably chipper James Cameron in an accompanying press release. "There's an extended length cut that's sixteen minutes longer, plus documentaries, behind the scenes featurettes, artwork and over 45 minutes of deleted scenes. Everything worth putting into a special edition is in this set."
Everything, that is, except for a 3D version of the film, which will appear in yet another Blu-ray release sometime next year.
The three-disc Avatar Special Edition will be available on DVD and Blu-ray from 15 November. For the wealthier Avatar fanatics out there, there'll also be a limited edition box set, which, for £99.99, adds a film cell signed by Cameron and a Making Of Avatar book, all housed in a handsome volume that looks like this...
