The first draft of Die Hard 5 is in, and Bruce Willis offers an idea of when it might go into production…
It's been a while since Bruce Willis first pretty much confirmed that a fifth Die Hard movie was in the works, but it's all been a little quiet of late. However, Willis has given a brief update on the status of the project to MTV, and it's clear that John McClane is still set to return. And possibly quite soon.
He told MTV that "It's probably going to happen in 2011," going on to add, "we have a script. They're making a couple changes right now."
He wouldn't be drawn on plot details, however, and if the film did go into production in 2011, then we're looking at the very crowded summer of 2012 for the return of John McClane (which may yet clash with Willis in The Expendables 2, if Stallone makes that his next project).
The question of who would direct is an interesting one, too. The director of Die Hard and Die Hard With A Vengeance, John McTiernan, has just gone to prison for 12 months, so it's probably wise to scrub him off the list. We can't imagine Die Hard 2 helmer Renny Harlin would be asked back either. But don't rule out a return for Die Hard 4.0 director Len Wiseman, who we still argue did a solid job on the last film.
Still, we're jumping ahead of ourselves here. Right now, all we know is that the film is likely to be on track for production next year, and rest assured, we'll keep you up to date.
