It’ll soon be time to aim for the head once again, as Zombie mode is officially announced for the forthcoming Call Of Duty: Black Ops...

Anyone who played the Zombies mode in Call Of Duty: World At War will remember that it was one of the most enduringly fun aspects of the game - indeed, if you’re anything like us, you still frequently return to it for a few moments’ frantic bunker defence.

With the latest COD game, Black Ops, due to appear in November, there’s been talk for some months that the Zombies mulitplayer mode would be included. It’s only now, however, that the rumours have been officially confirmed.

"Zombies have been such a hit with our community that we were committed to bringing brand new zombie experiences to Call Of Duty: Black Ops," Treyarch’s Mark Lamia said.  "We've taken extra special care to retain the essential ingredients of our Zombie game, and have also crafted a nice surprise for the fans."

The news comes in the wake of the appearance of a spooky viral website, GKNOVA6, which features a lot of flickering television screens and sinister, John Carpenter-like music. What’s going on in the screens isn’t entirely clear, though one briefly-glimpsed zombie is looking rather dapper in a shirt and tie, and there are hints everywhere of some form of experiment going terribly wrong.

Call Of Duty: Black Ops will be released in the UK on 9 November for PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. In the meantime, you can pore over the mysterious zombie footage for yourself here...
