Ahead of its October release, EA has revealed new info about Medal Of Honor’s multiplayer beta, which will allow players to try the contentious game for themselves...
There’s not long now until EA’s franchise reboot Medal Of Honor hits the shelves. Relocating its FPS action to the modern-day fields of Afghanistan, the game has been given a decidedly frosty reception from certain quarters of the world’s press, with the presence of the Taliban in its multiplayer mode proving to be particularly contentious.
Between the 4 and 7 of October, DICE is running an open beta to not only allow for last-minute tweaks to the multiplayer mode’s gameplay, but also to allow players to check out the controversy for themselves.
“The Open Beta of the Medal Of Honor multiplayer mode will allow players to sample the authenticity and adrenaline-fueled action that the full game will offer,” explained EA president Frank Gibeau. “We also hope that by offering the multiplayer open beta, we can clear up any misunderstanding about the patriotism and respect that are the foundation of this game. The Medal Of Honor franchise has always shown extraordinary reverence for American and Allied soldiers - this game is no exception.”
Is Medal Of Honor a fitting tribute to soldiers fighting in Afghanistan, or merely in bad taste? Politicians and newspaper pundits have had their say - it'll soon be up to the game-buying public to decide.
Medal Of Honor is set for release in the UK on 15 October for PS3, Xbox 360 and PC.
