Last week, we kicked off Monday with a story about the next Muppets film. We asked, on Twitter, whether you'd like a Muppets story to kick start every week, and the response was overwhelmingly positive. As it turns out, as if by fate, some more information has landed.
What we know thus far: The Muppets sequel is going to be set in Europe, will be closer in tone to The Great Muppet Caper, and director James Bobin is helming again. Furthermore, he's co-writing the script with Nicholas Stoller (who co-wrote The Muppets), and Jason Segel will not be back. Also, Christoph Waltz is set to join the cast as an Interpol agent.
Collider, though, has some more information. Firstly, we'll be getting new Muppets in the new film. Secondly, it looks as though the new film will be shooting primarily in London, at Pinewood Studios. The shoot is set to run from January to April 2013, and Bret McKenzie has been confirmed as returning to write new songs, too (which we're ecstatic about).
Furthermore, Collider reports the first sign of a formal release date. It looks as though Disney is planning to release The Muppets 2 (it'll be called something else by release date) on December 20th 2013.
Er, do we have to tell you how stoked we are about this?
Rest assured, we'll be doing whatever we can, within the confines of what's legal, to stalk the production. Happy Monday everybody...
