Nicolas Cage returns as Ghost Rider in Ghost Rider: Spirit Of Vengeance. But we’re going to have to wait until 2012 to see it…
Shooting has commenced on the sequel to the surprise 2007 hit Ghost Rider, which saw Nicolas Cage in the title role. And Cage is returning to the part again for Ghost Rider: Spirit Of Vengeance, which is before the cameras in Romania.
The new film is being directed by Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor (the duo who helmed the two Crank movies, along with Gamer), working from a script by David Goyer. And Columbia Pictures has announced when we can expect it.
The new Ghost Rider film will thus be arriving in cinemas on February 17th 2012, half a decade after the first film made its bow in cinemas. The shoot, we'd imagine, would be done by the end of this year, early next at the very latest. And that means that there's a year or so for the extensive post production work to be done (primarily: setting Nicolas Cage's head on fire).
